STG 996 / 997 Rear Dogbone Spherical Bearing Kit
One of the most cost-effective chassis upgrades available for the Porsche 996 and 997 — replacing the OEM rubber bushes in the upper rear arms with Fluro spherical bearings for a dramatic improvement in rear suspension precision and feel.
The standard rubber dogbone bushes are engineered to absorb noise and vibration — which is fine for a family saloon, but it also means compliance, vagueness and inconsistency under lateral load in a sports car. Swap them for spherical bearings and that compliance disappears entirely. The rear end becomes more planted, more predictable and significantly more communicative. It's a change that experienced drivers feel immediately.
What's included
- Pair of Fluro spherical bearing assemblies (left and right)
- All necessary hardware for fitting
- Fitting instructions
Key benefits
- Eliminates rubber bush compliance in the rear upper arm — zero deflection under load
- Improved rear-end precision and steering feel
- Better lateral load response — the car reacts to steering input without the delayed, vague feel of rubber bushes
- Fluro bearings: high-quality spherical bearings rated for sustained motorsport use
- Suitable for road and track use
- Direct replacement — no modification to the car required
Fitment
Compatible with: Porsche 911 (996), years 1999–2005. Porsche 911 (997), years 2004–2012. All variants.
Should I fit these with coilovers?
Yes — we always recommend fitting spherical dogbone bearings at the same time as a coilover or spring kit. The improvement in body control from the suspension is amplified by the elimination of bush compliance at the rear upright. These two upgrades complement each other directly.
